Comments make it easy to collaborate with your team while building and refining your documents. Whether you're flagging something that needs a second opinion, suggesting a change, or asking a question, comments keep the conversation right where the work is happening - in Waybook.
Comment on a specific section
You can leave a comment on any individual section within a step - including paragraphs, tables, lists, and embeds. This is useful when your feedback relates to a specific part of the content.
Hover over the section you want to comment on
Click the comment icon that appears in the left gutter
Type your comment, @mention any relevant team members, and hit Submit
Your comment will be pinned to that section, so anyone viewing the document can see exactly what the feedback refers to.
Comment on a step or document
If your comment is more general - like a question about the overall direction of a document or a note for the author - you can comment at the step or document level instead.
Navigate to the document you're working on
Click the Comments & Activity icon to the right of the document settings
Type your comment, @mention any relevant team members, and hit Submit
π‘ Waybook Tip:
Use section-level comments for specific feedback on a paragraph, table, or embed. Use step or document-level comments for broader notes about the content as a whole.
Who can see comments?
Comments are visible to all editors on the document. Readers (non-editors) won't see them, so you can use comments freely without worrying about cluttering the experience for your team members who are just consuming the content.
Ideas for using comments
A few ways teams get the most out of comments:
Review new documents together - before publishing a new SOP, ask a colleague to review and leave comments on anything that needs adjusting
Flag outdated content - spot something that's changed? Leave a comment so the document owner knows it needs updating
Ask clarifying questions - if a step isn't clear, comment on it directly so the author can see exactly which part needs more detail
Suggest improvements - share ideas for making a process more efficient right where the process is documented
