Duplicating content in Waybook saves time and keeps your team's documentation consistent. Whether you're copying an entire subject, a single document, or a few steps, Waybook makes it quick to reuse what you've already built instead of starting from scratch.

What can be duplicated?

You can duplicate the following content types in Waybook:

  • Subjects - duplicate an entire subject, including all the documents and steps it contains, to create a similar set of materials in one go.

  • Documents - copy an individual document to reuse or adapt its content for a different purpose.

  • Steps - duplicate specific steps within a document when you're creating similar instructions or structures.

  • Nodes within steps - copy a single node, like a checklist, rich text block, or embedded media, to replicate formatting or content within a step.

How to duplicate content

  1. Go to the subject, document, or step you want to duplicate.

  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the item.

  3. Select Duplicate. Waybook creates a copy you can then rename and edit as needed.

💡 Waybook Tip

  • Looking to standardize your formatting? Create internal templates for your documents to keep things consistent across your team and make reuse even faster.

Benefits of duplicating content

Duplicating content helps you:

  • Save time by reusing and adjusting existing content instead of building it again.

  • Keep formatting and structure consistent across all your documentation.

  • Use a proven document as the base for new or updated materials.

Together with internal templates, duplication gives your team a faster, more consistent way to build and maintain your documentation.

💡 Duplicate or link?

  • Duplication is perfect for a fresh starting point you'll adapt and make your own. When the same information needs to stay accurate in more than one place, linking is the easier path - write it once and link to it wherever it's relevant, so you only ever update it once and your team always sees the latest version.
