Moving Documents, Subjects, and Steps

Learn how to reorganize your Waybook by moving documents between subjects, subjects between categories, and steps between documents.

Written by Elle

As your Waybook grows, you'll want to reorganize content to keep things easy to find. You can move documents between subjects, subjects between categories, and even individual steps between documents - so your structure can evolve alongside your business without starting from scratch.

Any team member with publish access can move content using any of the methods below.

Drag and Drop

The quickest way to reorganize your Waybook is by dragging and dropping in the left-hand menu.

Simply grab the = icon to the left of the document, subject, or step and hold it, dragging it to its new location, and release. You'll see a visual indicator showing where the item will land.

Using the Move Option

For moving content to a destination that's further away in your structure - or if you'd rather not scroll through the left-hand menu - use the Move option:

  1. Click on the ... icon to the right of a document or subject in the left-hand menu

  2. Select Move from the menu

  3. Choose the destination subject or category from the picker

  4. Confirm your selection

This is especially useful when you're restructuring larger sections of your Waybook and need to move content across categories.

Need to move a step?

  • You can even move your steps by following the same steps as above while working in a document in Waybook.

Moving via Document Settings

You can also move a document by changing which subject it belongs to in its settings:

  1. Open the document you want to move

  2. Click Settings in the top right corner

  3. Find the Subject field and click the dropdown

  4. Select the new subject you want to move the document to

This method works well when you're already editing a document and realize it belongs somewhere else.
