Learning Paths allow you to guide your team members through your Waybook documents, enabling the ability to create custom onboarding and training flows to ensure knowledge is consumed in an optimal order.

This can improve learning outcomes by presenting information in a coherent and organized manner. Read on to learn more ✨

How to create a Learning Path

To create a pathway for your team members, follow these steps:

  1. In edit mode, select Learning Paths in the left-hand menu

  2. Press the + New Learning Path button at the bottom of this menu

  3. Give your path a name and add a brief description for your team

  4. Add documents to your Learning Path and rearrange them into the order you want your team to complete them in

  5. Make sure all of your documents are published so they're visible to your team

  6. Go to your Learning Path's access settings and add member groups or specific members

  7. When you're ready, activate your Learning Path and share it with your team

We do suggest keeping your Learning Paths to a reasonable length as they are designed to support onboarding new content or training. Please remember that if the content is not in a Learning Path but assigned to a member they will still be prompted to complete it.

Setting a deadline on a Learning Path

You can set due dates on all of your Waybook documents, including your Learning Paths. To set the cadence for your team to work through your Flows, follow these steps:

  1. In your Learning Path Builder, open the path you want to update

  2. Turn on the Enabled Deadlines setting

  3. Set how many days, months, or years your team members have to complete each document within the Learning Path once they have access to it

    • You can use the arrows to bulk-update deadlines above and below a document within the list

We'll automatically save these changes and apply them to all team members with access to this Learning Path in your Waybook.

Enabling Forced Order

You can also ensure that people are following the set order of the Learning Path by enabling forced order.

  1. Open the Flow you want to update within the Learning Path Builder

  2. Toggle on the Forced Order

  3. Once on members will have to navigate through the Learning Path in order and will not be allowed to jump ahead or skip uncompleted documents.

Adding Task to Learning Paths

Enhance your workflow by seamlessly integrating tasks such as booking meetings or setting up email signatures directly into your Learning Paths. This option streamlines your process, allowing you to efficiently manage your tasks without switching between multiple platforms.

To add a task, select add a task instead of add a document. Give it a title and add any links or information to support the completion of a task.

By incorporating tasks into your Learning Paths, you can maintain a cohesive and organized approach to your projects. Plus, with tasks tracked alongside your regular Learning Paths in reports, you'll have comprehensive insights into your team's productivity.

Benefits of Learning Paths

For new team members, Learning Paths can streamline the onboarding process by guiding them through essential documents that exist within your Waybook with the addition of specific path tasks that you can create to complete the onboarding process. This reduces the time and effort required for trainers or managers to individually direct new hires.

Learning Paths help maintain consistency in training and onboarding processes across different team members or departments.

Multiple Learning Paths can be created to ensure a custom pathway of documents and tasks and associated deadlines to ensure that key information is not overlooked for different roles across the organization.

By tracking Learning Paths in reports, managers can monitor progress and identify any bottlenecks or areas where additional support may be needed. This allows for better oversight and management of the learning process.
