Not only can you see who last updated a step in your Waybook, you can also compare current and historic versions, and revert to an earlier version of a step or a whole document in one click.
In this article, we'll cover the basics of tracking changes in Waybook and how you can compare and revert to older versions of steps and documents.
Step Revisions
Step Revisions allow you to track changes to specific steps within a document. This feature lets you view the history of edits and revert to earlier versions if necessary.
To track changes using Step Revisions, follow these steps:
Open the document and navigate to the step you want to review.
Click on the three dots in the top-left corner of the step.
Select Step Revisions.
Review the list of tracked changes. You’ll see a timeline of edits with the option to compare different versions.
If needed, select a previous version and click Revert.
Changes are shown word by word. Added and removed words are marked individually, so you can see exactly what changed without rereading the whole step.
This feature is incredibly useful for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of individual steps within your documents.
Version History (Pro Plan)
Version History is a feature available as part of our Pro plan that allows you to compare different versions of an entire document. This feature is accessible via the document's settings and is available to Pro teams.
To track changes using Version History, follow these steps:
Open the document you want to review.
Click on the Settings icon for the document.
Select Version History.
Choose the versions you want to compare from the list of available versions.
Review the changes between the selected versions. You can compare the current working version with any previous version or compare two previous versions.
To keep a copy, export the comparison as a PDF.
Changes are shown word by word, so you can see exactly which words were added and removed rather than scanning a whole section for the difference.
Exporting a comparison as a PDF gives you a dated record of what changed and when. That's the thing an auditor or a client asks for when they want evidence that a process was reviewed.
Version History provides a comprehensive overview of changes made to an entire document, making it easier for teams to manage and track their content.
Comparisons in Approval Processes
If your team uses an approval process, comparisons appear on the approval pages too. Reviewers see exactly what changed before they approve, so nothing gets signed off on trust alone.

Using Step Revisions and Version History, your team can efficiently track changes in Waybook, ensuring that your content remains accurate and up-to-date. Whether you need to review individual steps or compare entire documents, these features provide the flexibility and control you need to manage your Waybook effectively.
